Update_06: Custom Equipment - Helmet


Hello everyone!
With this sixth update, I’m introducing the first item in the new Custom Equipment section: the helmet.
As mentioned on the pack’s home page, this is an experimental update designed to allow the character to wear a helmet in all side-view animations. For now, I’ve included only this version to understand whether it’s something that could be useful to you.
From my point of view, this system has great potential. The goal is to give you the ability to dynamically expand the character’s equipment, with future additions such as shields, swords, armor, and more. This way, your hero can “grow” over time, acquiring new gear through an in-game shop or unlocking it through progression.
For those just starting out
Experienced developers will likely know how to manage modular sprites, but I’d still like to share some useful tips for those with less experience:

All customizable elements are clearly and consistently named to make them easy to identify and integrate.

Each item is provided as a transparent PNG file, with the same dimensions as the base character, so they can be easily overlaid.

Think of customizable elements as layers stacked over the character. To work properly, the animations must use the same framerate as the base character’s animations — otherwise, you’ll end up with a real visual mess!

Keep in mind that a layered character setup will also affect the z-order (visual depth) in relation to walls, enemies, and other objects. You’ll need to manage this aspect as well.

Before I move forward with adapting the helmet for all four directions, and before creating additional interchangeable items, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
